5 Questions with Greg Atkinson of Church Video Ideas
By
As part of the “Blogging 101 for Pastors” series [click here to see all the posts], I’ve been asking several proflic blogging pastors to answer five basic questions about blogging.
Greg Atkinson, who co-founded Wasteland Creative, blogs at Church Video Ideas. Here’s his answers:
1. Why (or how) did you start blogging?
I was driving to speak at a conference with Don Chapman from WorshipIdeas.com. I was sharing ideas and resources with him and he said, “Dude, you need a blog. You could be sharing these kind of things with Church leaders all over.” He then went and bought the www.churchvideoideas.com domain for me and I started.
2. What subject do you post most about?
The use of media/visuals in worship and creative worship planning ideas.
3. What are your favorite blog tools?
I like that people can use FeedBlitz to sign up for my blog via their email.
4. How often do you post?
I post twice a day – once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
5. What one piece of advice would you give for prospective blogging pastors?
Take the first step and just start. Blog about your daily activities, about your family, about life. Be real and authentic. A blog is a great way for people to get to know the real you. If you had a tough day – let them know it.
