Blogging Pastors: Why I Suggest Using Blogger.com
By
Although there are many others ways to start a blog, for the “I Help Pastors Blog” series, I’m going to have a bias towards using the Blogger.com platform.
I recommend that pastors use Blogger.com for their blogging platform for a number of reasons. They are really simple reasons:
- It’s easy — Blogger’s Help section is a great resource, but there are probably a 100 more good tutorial sites and million or so users to ask
- It’s cheap — Free is a great deal, I think, don’t you?
- It’s flexible — I’ve used it for two years, and helped a couple others get started
- It’s getting better and better — With the latest changes from Blogger, like adding “labels,” I’m liking Blogger more and more
- Google owns it — Logically, I gotta think it’s nice being on one of the best search engines on the planet
- I use it myself — And thus, know it better and can help others to start blogging with it faster; this is probably the best reason I have, and why I’m a biased; I guess you go with what you know!
There are probably other good reasons too … and probably really good reasons why NOT to use Blogger. But I suggest beginning blogging pastors to go with Blogger … it’s just easy and simple.
Here are a couple of other blogging platforms:
- WordPress — Free; This is a very popular blogging platform, one I’ve been experimenting with. It has a lot of function that Blogger just doesn’t have. I really like it, but haven’t taken the plunge yet.
- TyepPad — Paid solution
- LiveJournal
- Windows Live Writer
