It’s About Content, Content, Content for Rockin’ Church Websites

By Cory Miller

For real estate agents, their business is all about location, location, location.

For rockin’ church Web sites and the people that visit them, it’s all about content, content, content.

One cardinal rule of successful Internet sites — the rockin’ kind — is that they post dynamic content on a regular basis.

Think to yourself: Ever been to a Web site that posted an “Under Construction” icon (Jakob Nielsen says a BIG ‘no-no’) for two months straight without ever updating it? How often do you return to those sites?

Exactly.

When a Web site guest goes to your site and finds events listed that happened weeks or even months ago, they won’t trust what they find or deem it valuable.

Or think about it this way … what happens if a prospective guest logs on to your site, reads about a New Member Luncheon on Sundays at noon, attends your church for the first time, and when looking for the luncheon finds out that it was cancelled weeks ago?

Strive to keep your Web site fresh and up-to-date.

Set a regular schedule for making updates. Then make time to do a thorough check of your site’s content every so often.
