Blogging Tip: How NOT To Email a Fellow Blogger

By Cory Miller

This is probably personal preference (and I don’t care) … but one of the things I loathe is getting publicity emails from other bloggers those that are merely CC’s or worse BCC’s to a whole swath of bloggers.

Don’t misunderstand me … I like getting emails from other bloggers and promoting the work of others. But for me … the kind of emails I mentioned earlier get dangerously close to being SPAM.

If you want to announce something to me, do it personally — email by email, blogger by blogger.

Don’t say to me, “That takes too longer.” That’s lazy and poor Internet etiquette. I expect it in my snail mail, but not in email. It’s more personal and I’m protective of it. And we all are increasingly dealing with the harrassing issues of SPAM.

HOWEVER, saying all that … I encourage and welcome emails announcing your blogs … just don’t mass email it to me. Send me an email, woo me by saying every third moon you actually read my blog, and tell me about your awesome blog or post.

I’m all about promoting the work of others, ESPECIALLY believers.

To prove I’m about promoting others … you’ll want to watch fellow Okie Jeff Wilson’s new Image Forth blog. I had lunch with Jeff recently and am terribly excited about the potential for his blog. He explained the idea of “Image Forth” and I loved it! Stay tuned for more from Jeff so bookmark his site. He’s an excellent photographer, a ministry leader and an “out of the box” thinker!
