How to Put a Video on a Church Website in 4 Easy Steps

By Cory Miller

Here’s the easiest way I know how to put short videos — like a sermon series promo trailer or other promotional clip — on your church’s website.

Brace yourself because it’s incredibly simple … and because of its utter simplicity, you may think: “I knew that.”

Here are the four super easy steps to putting a video on your church website:

1. Signup for a free YouTube account.

2. Upload your video.

3. Copy and paste the embed code into a page on your church website.

4. Done, finished, viola!

The tradeoff for using YouTube’s bandwidth and storage space is you are limited to 10 minutes clips, so it’s not a solution for longer clips, like sermon videos.

[Update: By applying for a YouTube Director's account, you can get this restriction removed. Thanks to Jason for the tip!]

Here’s an example of a promotional video that I uploaded to YouTube and how it could look on your church website:

If you’re uploading original content, you can sign up for a YouTube Director account which removes the 10 minute limitation. We’ve used YouTube for several longer videos at http://www.xlwired.com (http://www.youtube.com/xlwired)

Jason, thanks for the tip … I updated the post. It took a minute to find the Director upgrade application.

Please don’t read into the fact that this is the primary thing I took away from your post. It’s just one of those days!

Dude, that video was seriously funny! Is one of those guys you?

Actually, I’m not in it … if I have anything to do with videos, I try to stay behind it.

As far as church videos go, I think the best kind are funny (and hokey). Otherwise, you’re competing with ESPN, etc. and they ain’t happening usually. :-)
