Blogging Tip: Hand Google Your Blog’s Sitemap on a Platter

By Cory Miller

Google likes me …

I’ve finally gotten into the good graces of Mr. Google (I’m out of the “sandbox”) … now more than half of my traffic is coming from Google search keywords. Amazing. I love it.

THANK YOU GOOGLE!

Anyway, one of the best ways to get listed in Google is to create and submit a sitemap through their Google Webmaster Tools.

For WordPress bloggers, this is incredibly easy … simply download, then upload, then active this awesome plugin.

For you Blogger Blog*Spot owners, I found a great tutorial for submitting a sitemap. (There’s not an easy plugin and yeah, since Google owns Blogger you think they would work seemlessly already!) To make a great tutorial short, the hack is doing it through your site’s feed, and then submittiing that to Google.

Selfishly, I wish a lot of you would do this … why? Because I’d love for you to link to me … then make sure your blog is optimized with Google and others because LINKS ARE VOTES … and if you’re linking to me … I WANT THAT TO COUNT! :-)

My site at http://www.infinivert.com is run on the eZ Publish platform, and they also have a plug-in to create Google Sitemaps. If anyone else is using eZ Publish, the plug can be found at http://www.ez.no in the Community > Contributions section. Just search for “Google Sitemaps.”
