Just Want a Quick Way to Keep a Spiritual Journal? Try Tumblr
Posted by: | CommentsTumblr is a new way to have a quick and simple blog.
It’s been compared to a “scrapbook” … it’s kind of like a notepad, where you can just pump out some quick notes.
Pastors, or just believers, can use it to keep a simple spiritual journal. But you can also post photos, links, videos and quotes REAL quickly.
I’m using Tumblr as a new linkblog called Warm Buzz, where I post links and stuff I see on the web that don’t necessarily warrant a full post, or I just don’t have time for a ful post.
Upgrade Your Browsers … Please
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve noticed that the majority of readers to CCP as well as most of my other blogs are running Internet Explorer … the two most popular versions being IE 6 and IE 7. Actually, they are about split evenly as the most popular browsers being used to read this blog.
As a freelance web designer, I’ve pulled my hair out trying to design around the quirks of Internet Explorer 6 in particular …
It’s notoriously terrible for web stuff … I mean, seriously, whole websites are devoted just to giving hacks to workaround it’s bugs.
So … I’d like to suggest something to you: UPGRADE PLEASE!
The latest version of Internet Explorer is version 7 … download or upgrade now here.
But also … I’ll also mention, my browser of choice (and deep love) is FireFox.
I started using it almost a year ago now and won’t ever look back. The browser’s tagline is “Rediscover the web.”
Blogs4God Is Back!
Posted by: | CommentsMeanDean from healyourchurchwebsite.com has announced that Blogs4God is back and ready for action! (unfortunately, this is bittersweet for Dean. Be praying for him.) To be honest, I’m not that familiar with the old iteration, but the new version is VERY digg-like (based on pligg), and looks like it’s gonna be an awesome place for Christian blog aggregation and voting.
Head over there, sign up, and start submitting your favorite Christian blog posts. Also, be sure to browse through the stories that have already been submitted and vote on them.
I’ve been wanting something like this for a long time, and I’m glad someone took the time to make it. If I’m honest, I never really understood why Christian blogs, mine included, would have a “digg this” link. Digg isn’t exactly Christian-friendly. But with our own place to hang out and submit/aggregate our own stories, we can now create our own community much like digg.
So, let me encourage you today to get over there and sign up. Vote A LOT! Oh, and go ahead and add me as your friend. My ID is “nathanrice“. Also, if someone wants to be super-cool, you can go ahead and submit this story to Blogs4God and vote for it! That’d be a cool way to start things off
PS – Be warned that this site is running a bit slow and sometimes won’t come up at all. I’m sure Dean is on it, but I just wanted to warn everyone.
My Messy Life
Posted by: | CommentsJeff Kapusta recently launched a website called MyMessyLife.tv that provides a place for people to air out the messiness associated with their lives. It’s quite similar to Life Church’s MySecret.tv. I got to visit with Jeff a few weeks ago on the phone and he’s a great church planting dude but he’s also genuine. I like the approach of both of these sites because it reaches and appeals to people who may not otherwise discuss spiritual or personal issues. The flip-side is that I am a big fan of personal relationships, biblical counseling, and encouraging people to confess directly to God and not only through a website. All in all I think these sites can be a great tool.
BTW – if you want to see some cool spiritual discussions going on, check out The Dialogue Blog! Steve Jesmer and The Dialogue Church has some really deep conversations going with people in his community.
