A Request from Church Communications Pro to You!
Posted by: | CommentsI can’t tell you how excited and blessed I am to be given this opportunity here at Church Communications Pro and to be able to explore new territory! I have all kinds of ideas jumping around in my head but I know that I am going to have to pace myself and learn some new skills and take time to do this right. I am going to share a bit of what I envision happening here at some point:
- Great interviews and Q & A Sessions with some really cool people from a variety of church backgrounds, visions, and skills. I love learning from others in the trenches and hope this will be a sweet addition.
- Pre-designed and Open Source products such as sermon branding kits, blog headers, website skins, connect cards, and more. I have stuff I have been working on for some time as well as have a few talented designers who will be contributing their stuff as well.
- Guest writers who will contribute excellent articles in their area of gifting or skill sets.
- Consulting for churches
- Sponsorship opportunities and additional resources
These are just a few ideas that I have, but what I am requesting is feedback from you, the Church Communications Pro readers. What are your suggestions for improving or building upon the foundation here? What would be beneficial for your church or ministry? How can I make CCP even better? Please think about providing your two cents to me personally or responding here in the comment section. I really appreciate it!
The new CCP is in motion!
Posted by: | CommentsCory has been helping me out today to get up to speed on WordPress and we now have the new theme loaded. Over the next couple of weeks I will be tweaking and changing – and hopefully I don’t totally mess everything up! BTW – I really dig the new WordPress platform as it is more visually appealing and seems to make getting around in it easier.
Free WordPress Installations for Church Leaders
Posted by: | CommentsScott Magdalein of Updatable is offering to do free WordPress installations for church leaders. It’s first come, first serve, but this is a great ministry offer to those interested in blogging with WordPress.
If you haven’t checked out our series on blogging and WordPress, see Blogging 101 for Pastors and Using WordPress to Run Your Church Websites. Then of course if you want a great looking theme, check out iThemes.com. (Unabashedly shameless plug)
Church Wars: Attack of the Clones
Posted by: | CommentsA short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, church leader’s of the Christian movement have secretly begun building churches that are clones of the empires called mega churches in an attempt to capture the market share of the heathen sinners and become the next big thing, but there is a chosen one who stands on the side on non-conformity and will fight the Imperialist scum. His name is James Dalman…
OK, so I am going a little overboard but the script is not too far fetched!
Churches are duping others. They are trying to clone themselves into Mars Hill (either one), Life Church.tv, Fellowship Church.tv, Willow Creek, NorthPoint Community Church, Saddleback Church, National Community Church, Granger Community Church, and so on.
For the love of the Kingdom and our sanity, please stop. Look within, instead of looking out. I get the opportunity to visit with a lot of Jesus loving and sincere pastors and church planters but if I hear one more tell me “we want to emulate what ______________ church has done because that’s us” , I am going to take my blaster and use it on them, and no, it won’t be set for stun.
I’m not trying to be mean but NO it’s not you, it is them. Be yourself and start finding a way to break the mold. Why do we feel we need to clone the superstar or walk in the shadows of somebody else? I could personally use a lot of improvement but there’s no way that I want to be anyone but James Dalman as screwed up as I can be sometimes (but I might take the financial security of Bill Gates). And I encourage church leaders and their teams to do the same.
You are screwed up and you aren’t the best. That is absolutely OK! Find what makes you unique and shout it out loud and stop asking me to make you into one of those other churches because I won’t do it and I can’t! I can and will help you to discover and develop your brand though if you want me to…just as long as you don’t mind if I bring my lightsaber.
