Enhance Your Church’s Google Map Listing with These New Features
Posted by: | CommentsWhile doing some research on an article I’m writing for a trade magazine, I noticed that Google had added four new features to its Local Business Center product. If you’re not familiar with Google Local Business Center, take some time to check it out. After you register as the business owner, you can edit the description of your church including hours of operation, and an overview of your ministry. You can see what Cory has entered on the overview information tab for Quail Springs Baptist Church.
Now with the new features you can do so much more.
1. Enhance Your Listing with Photos
You can add up to 10 photos to your church’s listing. Now potential visitors searching for churches in their area on Google maps can see what is shown in the example I found for the Granger Community Church. Read More→
Reviewing 12 Free Web Poll & Survey Services, Plus Working Examples
Posted by: | CommentsBlogs by design are meant to be dynamic and highly interactive. The author posts stories on a regular basis and the content of these posts could vary across a variety of topics. The visitor to that blog has the opportunity to add their own content to the site in the way of comments about what the author has written. Soon a conversation begins between the author and the readers.
One easy way to get the conversation started is with the use of a poll. Polls provide a way for a visitor to interact with the site without actually leaving a detailed comment. Visitors can also get a sense of how your community of readers feels about a particular topic by viewing the results of the poll.
As an author, polls provide a “sticky sauce” to help keep visitors on the site reading and interacting with your content. By featuring a “Poll of the Month”, your readers will return to see what the new poll is and to read about the results of the previous poll.
Blogging Tip: Stay Alert with Google and Yahoo News Alerts
Posted by: | CommentsKeep up with news and topics of interest quickly and easily with tools from Yahoo and Google. Both search engines offer a way to search news and current events, now you can tap these same resources with email alerts. Instead of performing searches on these sites, you can have news published in major media outlets sent directly to your inbox. Recently, Google added the option of keeping up with how these topics are being discussed in blogs as well. Although Google allows you to set up an alert without a free Google account, Yahoo requires that you have a Yahoo email address to set up or use their news alerts.
Following is an explanation of the features of the two alert systems as well as a brief description of how to set up an alert.
