“Spiritual discernment is good for more than just making monumental decisions according to God’s will. It is an essential, day-to-day activity that allows thoughtful Christians to separate the truth of God from error and to distinguish right from wrong in all kinds of settings and situations.
Then … Tim Challies bought it and started to pump new life into the site.

Anyway, after a year of fresh air on the site, he’s now looking at the future of Discerning Reader and wants your input. Personally, I love his ideas and fully support his need to have an income from the site (as well as to not be a distraction to him and his web biz).

Go check out Discerning Reader … and leave Tim an encouraging comment while you’re at it.

I’m looking forward to reading the book and posting some lessons I gleaned from it … as always I welcome “free stuff” especially books like this that will help me do ministry better.

In the meantime, here is some information about the book …

SYNOPSIS:

“Nothing is more dangerous than a single compelling idea that is lived out and nothing is more harmless than lots of little ideas never applied. By creatively communicating one BIG IDEA every week, your church will transform people into genuine Christ followers who live out the mission of Jesus. Less is more! Community Christian Church embraced the BIG IDEA and everything changed. They decided to avoid the common mistake of bombarding people with so many “little ideas” that they suffered overload. They also recognized that leaders often don’t insist that the truth be lived out to accomplish Jesus’ mission. Why? Because people’s heads are swimming with too many little ideas, far more than they can ever apply.”
